After a crazy few days of the Weekender we look back and take stock of what was a massive event in the Chamonix mountains -
Over 3 days we saw a Volcano erupt in Iceland grounding most of Europe’s planes – This caused a major problem for the event – but the show must go on and wow did it go off.
You can check all the pictures for this years Winter Sessions events here – be sure to join up to the facebook group and get all the inside info – and offers for the 2011 event schedule. We will be back bigger and better for the following year with an unprecedented line up for those who are living the dream rather than dreaming of life.

LE I-POD BATTLE – Bring your baddest beats – your killer tunes – the music that rocks the crowd to battle it out head to head to win some amazing prizes. Loudest cheer gets it, so maybe just come with a posse.
ALPINE BAKE OFF – This I am sure has never been seen in Chamonix before. A culinary bake off like no other. Bake something ( cake, breads, cookies, muffins, tarts only please people) and display it on the BAKE OFF TABLE and our band of grannys will deliberate and cogitate to find the winner. Winner takes all – and the proof in the cake is in the eating so bring your cake holes for this one.

Unless you have fallen lifeless somewhere thru the cracks you’ve more than likely witnessed Cambridge come Londoners The Nextmen, also known as Brad Baloo and Dom Search, at one of their many sweaty styled-out club sets, festival-stopping performances or heard their incendiary mixtapes on the neighbourhood ghetto blaster.
This eclectic production duo have carved another shiny gem from London’s lovely low-end underbelly with a mix of electronic music styles in the form of their fourth studio LP ‘Join The Dots’ due to hit the streets in August. In typical Nextmen fashion the game has been sonically upped to dizzying heights as ‘Join The Dots’ progressed like a paint by numbers prayer of affection through all the genres and styles that are loved by the pair and their fans alike. The album was born from their explosive and eclectic DJ sets, which have been the focus of global critical acclaim over the last 12 years.
Making this connection between music they love be it dancehall, drum’n’bass, instrumental and actual hip hop, soul, funk, dubstep, indie, leftfield, ambient, pop and straight-up hands in the air party jacking pleasers, is something Baloo and Search always strive to achieve, weaving their way on 4 turntables with mastery and abandon, laced with their own sought after mash-up edits, bootlegs and specials.

Skitz is the daddy of UK hip hop with reggae infused beats and this time round he has chosen to launch his album with the Winter Sessions crew in the snowy mountains of Chamonix. Sticksman has been a long time coming and to celebrate this we have invited one of the acts from his album along to complete the sound. The Engine-EarZ Experiment has been smashing it all over the place with their spiritual dub step. One Asian Music Awards nomination and two BBC1 Maida Vale sessions later they are going to be huge in 2010. To complement the deep bass lines in Room 1, Liz Edwards, one of the most iconic names in UK electro music and Director of Swag Records will be leading the Room 2 crowd playing alongside Joe Volpeliere, Corin Martin & Tony Chopin of the Winter Sessions Crew.

Hot of the heels of a UK wide tour with the might PRODIGY Orafice Vulgatron – Metropolis – and DJ NoName aka the FOREIGN BEGGARS will coming to the Chamonix valley to display their unique blend of Uk Hip Hop. Their shows never fail to impress and with collaborations with ROUGE A LÉVRES and more recently NOISIA their block rocking beats are becoming common place in Hip Hop lovers music collections. Backing it up in the stomping room two will be the Winter Sessions Residents alongside GUNZI with his live set of electro and jacking house. Always a winner.

Nicolas Duvoisin is the local hero of minimalist house and techno with his label ‘Fantastic Friends’ based in Geneva. His slick style and Swiss precision has won him countless gigs around the world in some of the most selective locations.
JFB is the UK 2007 DMC Champion which speaks for itself when it comes to decks mastery. His collaborations with the likes of Bearyman and his own night Battlejam mean we should be expecting some fireworks on the decks with this one.
Engine-EarZ – what is there to say? Revolutionary. Groundbreaking! These guys have headlined Glastonbury BBC Stage, performed two BBC Radio 1 Maida Vale sessions and have only just released their first single ‘Kaliyuga’. The Indian inspired dub step is a sound like no other and they have been said to be the next Rage Against The Machine crossed with the Prodigy. Hold tight for the audio ride of your life!

This is it. It’s here. The start of the Winter Sessions Season. It’s been a long time coming but this year we are proud to announce a massive collection of events across the Alps featuring a multitude of artists from around the globe.
All made possible by the ever growing Winter Sessions Crew, we all bring energy to what is a collection of happenings revolving around free sports, music, and youth culture. It’s a great way to bring together people to celebrate life in the mountains cos after all it is amazing isn’t it ! !. That and funktion one sound systems – they are pretty great too.
We are kicking the whole storm off with the one and only Rodney P aka Riddim Killa. We have been hankering after this guy for a while and as the official Godfather of UK hip hop we thought it would be a nice way to Nice up the Dance before New Year.
Oh New Year – What a night this will be ! ! We have the BBC Radio 1 DnB Bad Boy D-Code rolling the bass lines with the Queen singer Jenna G. This and Magnus Aslberg aka C-Soul rolling in room two has the makings of a the only way to bring in the new year at the biggest party in the valley.

JFB is the UK 2007 DMC Champion which speaks for itself when it comes to decks mastery. His collaborations with the likes of Bearyman and his own night Battlejam mean we should be expecting some fireworks on the decks with this one.
Engine-EarZ – what is there to say? Revolutionary. Groundbreaking! These guys have headlined Glastonbury BBC Stage, performed two BBC Radio 1 Maida Vale sessions and have only just released their first single ‘Kaliyuga’. The Indian inspired dub step is a sound like no other and they have been said to be the next Rage Against The Machine crossed with the Prodigy. Hold tight for the audio ride of your life!

New Year was quite frankly an amazing night – thanks to all who came – played and partyed with us in to the early hours of 2010.
Full moon and the likes of JENNA G – MAGNUS ASBERG and D-CODE made for high spirits and whole lot of mountain soul.

This is it. It’s here. The start of the Winter Sessions Season. It’s been a long time coming but this year we are proud to announce a massive collection of events across the Alps featuring a multitude of artists from around the globe.
All made possible by the ever growing Winter Sessions Crew, we all bring energy to what is a collection of happenings revolving around free sports, music, and youth culture. It’s a great way to bring together people to celebrate life in the mountains cos after all it is amazing isn’t it ! !. That and funktion one sound systems – they are pretty great too.
We are kicking the whole storm off with the one and only Rodney P aka Riddim Killa. We have been hankering after this guy for a while and as the official Godfather of UK hip hop we thought it would be a nice way to Nice up the Dance before New Year.
Oh New Year – What a night this will be ! ! We have the BBC Radio 1 DnB Bad Boy D-Code rolling the bass lines with the Queen singer Jenna G. This and Magnus Aslberg aka C-Soul rolling in room two has the makings of a the only way to bring in the new year at the biggest party in the valley.
